3D Additivist Manifesto - Moreshin Allahyari & Daniel Rourke. residency, workshop, 3D Additivist book sprint
The 2015 VIA Festival's resident artist program centered around two two artists who are leading the charge in exploring the radical potential of 3D printing: co-founders of the 3D Additivist Manifesto Morehshin Allahyari & Daniel Rourke. Allahyari and Rourke's week-long residency in the fall of 2015 provided both a time to edit final entries for their forthcoming publication, the Additivist Cookbook (2016), and provide a day-long workshop on their practice which engaged artists, engineers, designers and critical thinkers to dig deeper into the politics, materiality, and speculative future of 3D printing. Local companies ExOne, a global leader in additive manufacturing and Shapeways partner specializing in 3D printing metal, and startup Kerfcase joined the roundtable. #Additivism is a movement that aims to disrupt material, social, computational, and metaphysical realities through provocation, collaboration, and the ‘weird’.
