Inspired by the legacy of musical icon & longtime Pittsburgh resident Betty Davis, this free daytime program honored women of color who are artists, musicians, organizers, activists and creators of change. This rare convergence of local and internationally acclaimed individuals represented 3 generations who have defied convention and forged paths for creative and social revolution. We discussed in the context of identity, creative labor, industry biases, methods of resistance and self-empowerment, and how to make and protect social and physical space for femme expression.
